John Rutherford is a master astrologer, and he happens to be a good friend of mine too!  John used to have his own radio and tv shows in Edmonton Alberta during the mid 80's.  He appeared on Rafe Mair's former radio shows on CKNW 98 during the 90's.

"How would you have liked to have been raised as you actually are, instead of how people thought you should have been," is a question John often asks people.  When babies are born, John says "Get the nearest second to the first breath."

Our horoscope charts are only as accurate as our birth time.  And the readings are only as good as the reader can see and interpret the map of our star charts.  In his chart readings, John sees the relationships between the planets, not only at the moment we were born, but also what is happening now.

He calculates the four personal points: Ascendant relate to matters in your environment. "Use it to see what's in your face". Mid-heaven relate to matters in your personal life. "Use it to see what's in your mind."  Moon relate to matters in your emotional life. "Use it to see what's in your heart."  Sun relate to matters in your physical life. "Use it to see what's in your core."

John taught me that the solar system is 3 dimensional and filled with energy.  It has height, width and depth, so are John's chart readings.  Sun signs and Moon signs are all very good, but when you combine it with the four personal points, you go much deeper, farther and wider.

John studied Astrophysics and Biology in university in California, before he moved to Canada.  Many a late night conversation involved astrophysics, biophysics, and relationships between objects, as well as metaphysics and Tibetan Buddhism.  This to John, relationships are the very centre of our lives.  We are each born with a map of the stars at our birth.  Throughout our lives, the stars move, we move, and the relationships shift.  But as people continue to have impact on each other, long after they have divorced or died, so do the planetary relationships on our own personal lives - Simple cause and effect.

I believe in good astrology readings.  They have predicted major changes in my life, such as the health crisis of cancer I had in 1988 to 1989, and my divorce in 1993.  As well, they have predicted many positive opportunities in my life.  Some I have been able to take advantage of and some not.

John and I shared a house together beside Burnaby Lake from 1993 to 1998, as I subletted a room in a very cool 1927 house within the boundaries of the wildlife preserve.   When I first walked into the house, I was struck by the number of astrology books in John's library.  One book particularly caught my attention.  It was authored by noted psychologist Hans Eysenck about the work by the French Astrologers Michel and Francoise Gauquelin.  Was it coincidence that I was studying psychology up at Simon Fraser University with Dr. David Cox, a former protege of Hans Eysenck at the London School of Psychiatry?

Not only did I learn about astrology from John in my years spent beside Burnaby Lake, but I also learned lots about Tibetan Buddhism, as John is a practitioner and attends a dharma centre in Burnaby BC.
