We are a social team full of cultural vigor, that likes to eat. We have been featured on television, local, national and international. We have a unique and internationally famous fundraiser dinner event. We practice Sunday 1:30 pm -3:30 pm Tuesday 6pm-7:45pm Wednesday 6pm - 7:45 pm We meet at Dragon Zone clubhouse - just south of Science World in Creekside Park above the Aquabus and dragon boat docks. Our coach Todd Wong has 15+ years of experience including novice, recreational and competitive levels, and both community and corporate teams. Our 2005 Season brought us the David Lam Award for being the team that best represented the multicultural spirit of the Alcan Dragon Boat Festival, and Bronze medals at the Vancouver International Taiwanese Dragon Boat Race. In 2007, we won Gold in B Division at Vernon Races. This is a great way to celebrate a day dedicated to the memory of a man who wanted to improve the lives of all people. And in particular, to imagine a day and a country without racism. But we have to work for it - if we truly want it. We have to provide service to help create the world we want to live in. more »

CBC's Dragon Boys... Body count and community impact

Dragon Boys was one of CBC's most hyped new shows for January 2007. Because it dealt with drugs, gang violence and prostitution in the Chinese communities of Vancouver and Richmond, it broached sensitive issues. Cultural consultants were brought in, but did it help or hinder the show? more »

They give an interesting perspective to the issue of nationality vs culture. Can we be Chinese if we are born in China? Can we be Scottish if we are born in Scotland. So was it? or wasn't it?
The Chinese head tax issue made top newsmaker in every chinese media's year end review. But was rarely seen in English Language media year end summaries. Top Chinese-Canadian stories listed by Susanna Ng includes Head Tax redress apology plus the resignation by Michael Chong over recognizing Quebec as a "nation" within a united Canada. more »
