Join the Gung Haggis Fat Choy Dragon Boat team
for lots of summer fun, fitness and friendship. We are a social team full of cultural vigor, that likes to eat.

We have been featured on television, local, national and international. We have a unique and internationally famous fundraiser dinner event.

We practice Sunday 1:30 pm -3:30 pm Tuesday 6pm-7:45pm Wednesday 6pm - 7:45 pm

We meet at Dragon Zone clubhouse - just south of Science World in Creekside Park above the Aquabus and dragon boat docks.

Our coach Todd Wong has 15+ years of experience including novice, recreational and competitive levels, and both community and corporate teams.

Our 2005 Season brought us the David Lam Award for being the team that best represented the multicultural spirit of the Alcan Dragon Boat Festival, and Bronze medals at the Vancouver International Taiwanese Dragon Boat Race. In 2007, we won Gold in B Division at Vernon Races.

We are adding Wednesday evening practices for the team starting in May. This will allow more paddler development and team cohesion building as well as more opportunities for carbohydrate re-loading after practices. Sunday practices for May 16, 30 and June 13 change to 12 noon meeting times at Dragon Zone. June 6 is ADBF Regatta.   more »

Remember to bring your water bottle to practice on Sunday. With good weather and practices becoming increasingly harder - paddlers need to hydrate more. Bring a hat, sunscreen and a windbreaker as needed. Technique is building fast on the Gung Haggis Fat Choy team as lots of people are getting lots of 1-on-1 coaching.   more »

A Question is asked in regards to the Gung Haggis Fat Choy dinner being a collection of traditions within a "Fusion" context. Q: I'm curious and have to ask, how traditional is a fusion between a Chinese and Scottish celebration? As someone looking in from the outside, I see it as the result of us taking on a new identity in contemporary North America, the "melting pot" if you will.   more »
